Our Director

Janet trained at Chetham’s School of Music, Sheffield University, and Trinity College of Music in London. She then spent 10 years as a freelance violinist playing regularly for the Royal Philharmonic Pops Orchestra, the Ulster Orchestra, and the English National Ballet. This work was supplemented by West End shows such as Phantom of the Opera, South Pacific, and The King and I. She was leader of orchestras that toured with Fiddler on the Roof, The Sound of Music, and My Fair Lady. Since moving to Yorkshire in 1993, her work has been predominantly in teaching, and on moving to Ripon in 1999 she established Fiddle Fingers, a Saturday morning youth ensemble for string players.
